Faber to receive undisclosed amount from Globe publisher By Brian D. Crecente, Rocky Mountain News The woman accusing Kobe Bryant of rape has settled a civil lawsuit against the tabloid newspaper Globe and American Media, according to a court filing.
According to the document, filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Denver, Katelyn Faber and American Media settled a civil suit, and the publishing company agreed to pay Faber an undisclosed amount of money.
The settlement came to light after Bryant's defense team said it wanted to interview "numerous nonparties" in the case, including American Media. American Media owns the Globe, the National Enquirer and other tabloids that published articles about Bryant and Faber, according to court documents.
The court filing came as Bryant's and Faber's attorneys argue over whether other sources, including media organizations, were at least partially responsible for emotional injuries Faber allegedly suffered since her encounter with Bryant in June 2003.
Lawyers for Bryant and Faber will be in federal court Wednesday for a hearing on Bryant's request that he not be questioned under oath about his entire sex life.
Colorado U.S. District Judge Richard Matsch also will hear arguments on Faber's request that Bryant not be allowed to attribute any damages she has suffered to news organizations and others that aren't parties to her lawsuit against him. Copyright 2005, Rocky Mountain News. All Rights Reserved. |
